Diving into the conscious and unconscious 🏊♀️
We all walk around with masks (or personas) on our faces, that cover who we truly are. We hide the dark side of ourselves. Everyone has different personalities and versions of themselves. There’s the you that you want to display, the you that people observe and the real you.
Most of us don’t know much about the “real” versions of ourselves. To do that, you’d need to go down a profound journey of self-awareness, where you’re understanding your emotions, thoughts, perceptions, desires, etc.
Coming to terms with your BS is an extremely daunting process (AKA understanding yourself). Any philosophy guru ever will tell you to “understand thyself.”
This is easier said than done. You’ll soon realize things, like the fact that most of your thoughts aren’t your own. Our personalities + actions + behaviours aren’t our choices.
We are controlled by circumstances beyond our consciousness (i.e., the unconscious). And shit, that’s scary to think about. Most of what you say, think and feel is not “you” — it’s someone else. It’s the collection of “people” in your head.
