Be the dinner table conversation

Normally, I tip my uber drivers.

But not this time.

He tipped me, the passenger.

Wait what???! How does that work??

I’ll explain.

People think of me in one of two ways:

  1. Very curious and thought-provoking
  2. Very annoying

I ask a lot of questions.

I don’t ease into it either. I cut straight to the intense, philosophical conversations. I’ll start the ride asking something like:

  • If you lost all the money in your bank account, what would be the first thing you do?
  • What do you think it means to live a meaningful life?
  • What’s a secret no one knows about you?

Car rides with Isabella are intense.

I like to push people’s thinking, and hear their stories. Life’s too short for small talk.

I was in a long uber ride. I pulled an Isabella and started having fascinating discussions. At the end, my driver said: “this is the most memorable uber ride I’ve ever had. I’ll remember this. Here’s $5 so you can get some ice cream.”

I told some of my friends after and they were like: that’s soooo Isabella.

Apparently I’m an adjective now.

When it comes to strangers, most people are not mean. There’s a difference between being not mean and nice. I try to…
