3D printing takes 2D objects and stacks them together to create 3D things. It’s called additive manufacturing if you want to be fancy.

3D printing can create cute projects like building lego men — but there’s plenty of practical — even world-changing applications😉. Just to name a few:

  • Emergency supplies at the sight of disasters. If Eastern Africa is hit by a hurricane, we can get food, blankets, and really anything in a hurry to help.
  • 3D printing will allow for customization — this has more applications than just comfier shoes. Medicine will be significantly impacted by customization, for example, we could print cheaper stents that are personally designed to fit in your blood vessels.
Stents are used to improve blood flow, but 1 in 2 stent surgeries fail. Not to mention, they’re seriously pricy (because stent production is so expensive).
  • We’ve even got 3D printed homes that are constructed in under 24h, for less than a few thousand dollars. Maybe it’s the solution to the global housing crisis?
We can create homes of a previously unimaginable complexity.

These are only a few to name. 3D printing is transforming how we make cars, furniture, energy and anything else you could think of. It’s cool stuff.
